2011 North Texas Bicycle Rally

Bicycle Routes and MapsĀ

The North Texas Bicycle Rally and Public Safety Team has modified all bicycle routes with the safety of our cyclists in mind.  While planning this year's bicycle rally, our goal was to take into consideration additional comfort and safety of our riders and more importantly to address comments from our local and regional Cycling Clubs.  Consequently we have modified all of our Routes. The new routes were designed to address
*    Early morning and mid-morning traffic patterns
*    Reduction in average Vehicle traffic speed
*    Improvements in the Public Safety Traffic support model
*    A short route for children, so they can enjoy the Rally experience.

So with that in mind, here are the routes for this year's North Texas Bicycle Rally.

5 Mile Childrens and Family Route - The Yellow Route. The Family ride of 5 miles is perfect for beginners, family and Children. The rest stop will be at the Roanoke Parks and Recreation complex behind the Roanoke Fire Department station. Our friends at the Roanoke Fire Department is hosting an Open House and has invited all of the children and family members of the North Texas Bicycle Rally to visit. This route has no hills and consists of flat smooth concrete terrain. Pretty much downhill both ways.

15 Mile Route Map - The RED ROUTE. This particular route is perfect for the beginner cyclist, family and young adults. It is a great introductory route that is clearly marked and has significantly improved public safety and Support and Gear (SAG) vehicle support. This route covers fast smooth concrete roads that will take you through the Roanoke warehouse district, North Fort Worth to a Rest Stop about 7 miles out at the Met Church parking lot.  At the Rest Stop, you will meet the ladies at the "Parrott Club". The route then turns around and heads back through north Fort Worth and into the warehouse district to the Finish line. This particular route is a smooth well protected route with small rolling hills.

30 Mile Route Map  - The WHITE ROUTE. The 30 mile route is a mid-range route for the intermediate cyclist. After a breather and some refreshments you will continue through rural Tarrant County into Haslet where you will meet the Northwest ISD Student Council team at the Haslet Elementary School rest stop. This route will take you through north Haslet and onto the wide, well protected shoulders of HWY 156 and then through the smooth concrete roads of the Alliance Airport where the last rest stop is located at Schlotsky's and hosted by the Sun and Ski Team. The route then turns east onto the infamous "Washboard Alley" and finally through some very scenic rural asphalt roads to the Finish Line.

50 Mile Route Map - The BLUE ROUTE.  The Long route is our long route for the day. This route is for the well conditioned cyclist and will tax your legs. This route starts in the Roanoke Warehouse District and includes the 30 mile route through far northwest Fort Worth, Haslet, Alliance Airport, and then back through Historic downtown Roanoke. The long route continues through Westlake on Ottinger and Dove roads with rolling hills and a little break through the Solana complex in Westlake where the "Sun and Ski Team" has provided a rest stop should you choose to take a break. The route continues through a scenic portion of Southlake and then through Keller where you will be introduced to Bancroft Hill, Mount Gilead horse farms, and the rolling hills of Roanoke Road. About 3 miles before the finish line, you will be introduced to "Woo Hoo" Hill. It is a fun and speedy restful ride back into Roanoke.
